strings and things

My Troubadour IV, which is rented out to a student, broke a string. A wire string. Why does it only seem to break wire ones? Perhaps other ones broke when someone else was renting it awhile back, but when it has been at the student's house or mine, no strings break. Some of the strings are still the original ones that came with the harp in 1995, I believe. I did replace most of the middle octaves last summer.

I don't usually keep wire strings around, so I decided to pick one up tomorrow morning. However, the round trip to the harp store is $9 in gas plus tolls leaving NJ. But shipping to get it here by Wednesday...and it would be nice to see the harps at the store. But I'd be tempted to buy music. Hmm.....
