6/6/6
Did the world end today? Well on EST there is 15 minutes left.
A great man once said "We Have Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself" ....
When it comes to days like this with meaning to end of the world theories, I think we have nothing to fear but those who are afraid. Think of all those who might have been afraid to leave the house because the world might end, so they weren't at their jobs, and they weren't spending money, so the economy gets worse.
What everyone should have feared today was the release of yet another horror movie. It got 2 stars....so another so-so-worth 3.50 rental but not 10 ticket-movie filling up screens at the multiplexes. I wanted to see the film today, but since it's no longer 6/6/6, I may only desire to spend $3.50 to rent it and not $10 to see it at the theaters, where the soda is overpriced and the seats not great. And over-airconditioned with bad parking. Even if I am stuck at the other end of the movie rental place parking lot, it is still closer than end of the lot at the theaters.
At the moment there are a few movies that I wouldn't mind paying $650/7ish to see the early/dinnertime showing. Poseidon Adventure, maybe X-Men (just cause I saw the other 2 in the theatre). And then some art films that are showing in Philly and don't cost $10 to begin with. The big deterrent there is Philly traffic.
Hopefully more $10 worthy movies will make their way to the screens near me. I've seen quite a few movies this year (many free or discounted)...An American Haunting, Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Goodnight and Goodluck, Running Scared, Songbird (I think that's the name of it...a documentary), Syriana, Transamerica, Walk the Line. Surely there have been others, I just can't think which at the moment.
