love of maslow

since i touched on this subject in my previous post...well, i thought i'd just start a new post instead of taking a major tangent.

maslow is one of my heroes. i know not everyone agrees with his hierarchy of needs, but to me its pretty self-explanatory and true. at least the base level. if your physiological needs aren't met, it's kinda hard to go after bigger and better things. and even if you do, it is partly because you're trying to meet those needs.
friendship is one area that some would argue is more important than the second level of the pyramid, safety. there are many many people out there who are not getting their basic safety needs met but still seek out and maintain successful friendships. some would say 'nope, cant happen, cant have successful friendships if they arent safe', but i disagree, because in those friendships they can find a sense of safety. and really, i feel that the 'safety' would have to be immediate threats, because anything can happen to a person at any given time. the world ain't exactly a safe place.
