a second chance for peanuts

A potential cure for peanut allergies give the nuts a second chance.

Peanut allergies can be life threatening, so the immediate benefits are obvious.

Not only would it save lives, but it would greatly increase the quality of life for peanut allergy sufferers.

Grocery store trips would be shorter-no more reading the ingredients of every item you put in the cart, even the ones that have always been 'safe' since companies change recipes and ingredients from time to time.

Potential sleepovers and birthday parties with friends would be less of a hassle and easier to enjoy. When someone brings cookies to share with classmates, a child wouldn't have to feel left out if they were chocolate chip peanut butter cookies. Kids wouldn't have to surrender half of their Halloween candy to their parents because it had nuts (I'm not saying candy is good for kids or shouldn't be rationed out, but it is sad when you're little and you can't eat the same things your friends can and you just don't understand why).

Teenagers in love would no longer have to quiz their date to see if they had any peanuts within the past 24 hours (see this article for more on the topic - )

Eating out would be easier. During my time allergic to wheat it was such a pain to have to ask if something had wheat in it and not be able to get a straight answer that sometimes it wasn't worth going out to eat. My favorite response I got one time at a fast food restaurant was "no it doesn't have wheat, it just has flour". The statement was so absurd that I nearly burst out laughing.

talking-there is an app for that!

I don't have an iphone or an ipod or even a mac that wouldn't be considered "vintage". But despite the fact that "I'm a PC", I thought this deserved mentioning. An application for the iphone that helps people with autism communicate!

Bruno - short attention span review

No matter how wonderful a film is, sometimes it's just too long or slow at times and it is impossible to sit through the whole thing. Example-2nd Lord of the Rings film. Loved it. But I had to get up and walk around in the lobby at least twice.

Bruno.....well, I sat through the whole thing. And it wasn't just because I got the snack pack with a small small drink.
This is not to say it's great. Or always funny. Or not offensive. It just kept my attention.

I walked into the movie knowing it wasn't some plot based drama or comedy. I knew it made fun of people. I knew there was a Velcro suit at a fashion show, and a baby in a box. These were hysterical moments shown in the previews. And is often the case, the funniest moments are shown to get folks to see the film, but the rest of the film is not quite as funny.

I laughed. Sometimes a "I can't believe they did that" laugh. I felt bad for some of the people featured in the film. And I hope that woman knew it was all fake and wasn't serious about her baby dropping ten pounds, or a third of it's body weight!
The film at times was like watching Jerry Springer, or one of those shows about sex on HBO, or a variation "girls gone wild"-meets-"worst car chases". A combination of E! and TruTV. Take those things, and filter it through YouTube-tinted-glasses. The swinger's party had that "girls gone wild" commercial vibe.
And I couldn't believe that, in the days when movie reviews must list "cigarette smoking" along with "profanity" and "simulated sex", it managed to get an R rating. Hmm...come to think of it, maybe it's cause I don't remember any cigarette smoking. Dancing male genitalia-yes, but cigarette smoking? I don't really remember.

OVERALL RATING: If you are not easily offended and have a very short attention span, then this is a good movie. Even if you do have to get up and wander around, you won't have missed any great plot action while you're gone. But don't expect it to be the best or funniest movie. And look for a cheap matinee showing--I'm not sure I'd call this $10-ticket-worthy. Or just wait and netflix-it.

"ShareThis" not very sharing

I had originally tried posting a specific link on a message board on a website, but somehow ShareThis just posted the link to the site in general. Sorry folks. Can't even remember what I was trying to post, most likely some groovy DIY project....
